Delete Your Account
Effective date: 7 September 2026
This page explains how to request deletion of your Xabira account and the data associated with it. Xabira is operated by Xabira Ltd, a company incorporated in Uganda, and is the developer of the Xabira app on Google Play.
How to request deletion (in the app)
- 1Open the Xabira app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
- 2Tap Menu, then tap My Profile.
- 3Scroll to the bottom of the profile screen and tap Delete Account.
- 4Read the confirmation notice, optionally tell us why you are leaving, and tap Delete.
Your account is then scheduled for deletion after a 30-day grace period. During those 30 days you can undo the request at any time by returning to Menu → My Profile and tapping Cancel Account Deletion. Once the 30 days have passed, deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
How to request deletion by email
If you cannot sign in to the app, email [email protected] from the email address on your account with the subject “Delete my account”. We will verify that you own the account and confirm in writing once the request has been actioned. We respond within 30 days.
When deletion cannot be completed yet
Because Xabira holds live tenancy and payment obligations between landlords and tenants, we cannot delete an account while any of the following apply:
- •You have an active lease as a tenant. End the lease first.
- •You have outstanding or overdue invoices. Clear all balances first.
- •You are a landlord with tenants on active leases on your properties. End those leases first.
- •Your account is suspended. Contact us at [email protected] and we will process the request manually.
The app tells you which of these is blocking your request so you know what to resolve.
Data that is deleted
When the 30-day grace period ends, we permanently erase the personal information that identifies you:
- •Your name, replaced with “Deleted User”.
- •Your email address, replaced with a non-routable anonymous placeholder.
- •Your phone number.
- •Your profile photo.
- •Your password.
- •Your push notification token, so the app can no longer reach your device.
You will no longer be able to sign in, and the account cannot be recovered or reactivated.
Data that is kept, and for how long
Some records cannot be erased immediately because Ugandan law requires us to keep them, or because they are shared records belonging to another party to a lease. These are detached from your identity where possible and deleted at the end of the periods below:
Financial records
Invoices, rent payments, receipts, and Mobile Money transaction references. Retained in anonymised form for up to 7 years after account closure to meet Ugandan tax and accounting obligations, then deleted.
Lease agreements
Signed leases and their terms, which are legal records shared with the other party to the lease. Retained for up to 7 years after the lease ends, then deleted.
Identity verification (KYC) records
National Identification Number, date of birth, ID document image, verification selfie, the verification result from our identity provider, and any anti-money-laundering watchlist screening carried out on your name. Retained for up to 7 years after account closure as required by Uganda’s anti-money-laundering record-keeping rules, then deleted.
Lease signing records
The IP address, browser or device description, and document fingerprint captured at the moment each party signed a lease. This is the evidence that a signature is authentic. Held on the lease record itself, and deleted with it.
Anonymised, aggregated statistics that can no longer be linked to you, such as total occupancy counts, may be retained indefinitely. Encrypted database backups are kept on a rolling 7-day cycle, so deleted data may persist in backups for up to 7 days after deletion before ageing out.
